In general, puzzles are appropriate for children starting at 12 months of age.
At this stage of the baby, there is a preliminary concept of the puzzle, but you can only play some simple puzzle which the number of pieces generally no more than 3-5.
For children less than 2 years play puzzles in a way that is explored, mostly based on shape matching. Hand muscles are not very flexible. So we recommend jumbo knob puzzle and chunky puzzle which are easy for little hands to grasp.
Shape sorters and other similar activities can be given to this age group. But these children still approach grasping them, mouthing them, banging them, and throwing the pieces. So the puzzle should be smooth surfaces and are washable. Children at this age approach the puzzle through trial.
As they approach 2 years of age，they have the ability to deliberately match angles and fit a square piece into a square hole. Shape sorters, nesting toys, and form toys are suitable for this age.
